hey folks, got an '03 e-350 di mahindra tractor with about 150ish hours on it. noticed after bushogging that when i took off the muffler there was some tar-like thick oil around the manifold outlet pipe. not a lot but enough to notice. also saw a bit of that same stuff seeping out of two small holes in the lower part of the manifold. all gauges are fine, tractor runs great, no excessive idling either. just wondering if this is normal or if i should be worried. any ideas?

i got the same one with over 500 hours on it with no similar simptoms and no issues. there are tons of reasons why youre seeing this. some faint oil seepage can cause some tar to show up in the exhaust and condensation can do the same. does your mahindra work well and normal?

Is the tar residue a lot? If not, well it shouldn't be a problem that much or I'm not really sure. As long as it's running great like you said and there's obviously no blue smoke coming off, then I think this is normal? But you said it's thick oil.... I don't know about that I never had any problem with mine so maybe let's wait for other's input here.

Has this been sorted out? A buddy found himself in a similar situation with that tar-like oil.. He adjusted his fuel and checked engine breathing. Lucky he caught his early! So yeah, monitoring your oil and exhaust should give a lead but it's sure wise to go get a mechanic check!
