I have a ~2013 3616. The radiator came in contact with the cooling fan back in January, and I replaced that. The fan shroud has eaten into the cooling fan a bit.
This tractor has been hard used, and I appreciate every moment of that, and am doing a lot of repairs. I'm happy to keep doing the repairs...cheaper than a new tractor, and I'm getting my money's worth out of the hard use.
Yesterday, the tractor blew a lot of coolant again, towards the engine mostly. I'm pretty sure the same thing has happened. When I replaced the fan back in January, I watched the fan for a few weeks then got slack. I noticed yesterday the new fan had also gotten eaten by the shroud a bit, cutting 1/8 ish inch grooves in the fan. I *think* it is hitting the top of the shroud when running...I can spin the fan when not running and there's just a little bit of clearance.
When the radiator busted in January, it was fins at the top of the radiator, which appears to be where the fan is hitting the shroud. The hood latch
The motor doesn't appear to be moving, the fan is firm when I try to wiggle it, so it isn't obviously showing play on its shaft. The housing for the radiator appears solid when I try to wiggle that by hand. I think some kind of subtle shift is happening under load causing the top of the radiator to come into contact with the cooling fan. And something cuasing the fan shroud to hit the fan.
Appreciate any advice, input, or diagnostic approaches. I'm my own mechanic, I don't have access to a reliable dealer or repair shop for this tractor.
